Obligations of the tenant
Before asserting your rights, be aware that certain obligations are incumbent on the tenant of a rented vehicle.
In most cases, rental agencies will require the driver to:
To be over 21
Have a valid driver's license for at least one year
Submit one or more proof of address.
When removing the vehicle, the payment of a deposit is frequently required. It aims to ensure the return of the vehicle to the agency after use and to cover any damage that may occur during rental. In most cases, the amount of the security deposit is equal to the amount of the non-redeemable deductible. See Insurance and Warranty: Car Rental Morocco
Debit on your credit card
Many car rental agencies ask their customers to provide credit card references when renting. This request allows them to charge fees directly to their account in case of problems related to the use of the vehicle (costs not covered by the insurance after a disaster, vehicle delivered with an insufficient fuel level ...) .
According to a ministerial response of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Economy published on September 15, 2015, this practice is not illegal. In case of debiting, the consumer nevertheless still has the right to ask his bank for the reimbursement of the payment made as soon as the authorization which has been given does not indicate the exact amount of the transaction and the amount exceeds the amount the customer could reasonably expect. The customer must then contest the transaction within 8 weeks.
Delivery of the vehicle
Vehicle not available
For different reasons, it may happen that the agency does not have or more than the vehicle you have booked. You are then entitled to request another vehicle without the rental price being increased. The replacement vehicle may be of a higher volume (for example: your van is replaced by a van): the cost of the rental must remain the one applicable to the vehicle initially chosen. The company can not therefore increase.
On the other hand, if the available vehicle is of a category lower than the reserved vehicle, you can request a reduction of the tariff in order to pay the price corresponding to this model.

Even if its capacity changes, the replacement vehicle must meet the criteria set out in the contract. If, for example, you have requested an automatic transmission, you can refuse a manual transmission. In case of refusal of the replacement vehicle, you can cancel your reservation. In case of damage, you can ask to be compensated by the rental agency.
State of play
Before handing over the keys, it is not unusual to find that the vehicle has scratches or shocks. This damage must be recorded in writing before handing over the keys. A copy of the vehicle condition sheet must be given to you.
The examination of the vehicle must therefore be carried out thoroughly. Otherwise, the agency may consider you responsible for damage pre-existing during the return of the vehicle.
Interview
The customer may also face a malfunction of the vehicle during use. If this problem is due to the poor condition of the vehicle, the rent is required to ensure major repairs during the rental.
For its part, the tenant remains obliged to carry out the routine maintenance of the vehicle, in particular as regards the oil level or the pressure of the tires.
Breakdown
If a breakdown occurs, you must first contact the rental agency. The procedure to follow may sometimes be included in the contract. When the tenant had to pay a repair or repair fee because the agency was impossible to contact, the company must pay it back.
Return of the vehicle
Problems can also occur after using the vehicle when returning the vehicle.
Delay to make the vehicle
The rental agreement must specify the time period within which the vehicle must be returned. Beyond the deadline, an increase of the price can be applied. Generally, a maximum tolerance of one hour is applied in case of delay.
Closed Agency
If the agency is closed on the return of the renter, the latter can not simply leave the vehicle parked nearby. Indeed, he remains responsible for the vehicle until the handing over of keys and papers to the agency. It is therefore he who will be responsible in case of degradations occurred during this period of time.
Fuel level
Most often, the fuel level is noted at the time of handing over the keys and then when they are returned. The renter must then refuel to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel.
However, missing gas can also be billed directly by the renter. In this case, the price is often higher than the rates of the nearest service stations. This practice is not illegal, but the customer must be informed of applicable rates.
